PICTURES AND PRINTS Tuesday 16th September 2025 19:18:20 Biography EDWARD MCGUIRE RHA (1932 - 1986) Edward McGuire was one of Ireland’s foremost portrait painters, known for his distinctive, hyper-detailed style. A member of Aosdána and the RHA, McGuire painted many of Ireland’s leading cultural figures, often against backgrounds of birds or symbolic still lifes. Though best known for his oil paintings, his works on paper reveal the same rigorous observation and psychological depth. His work is held in the National Gallery of Ireland and major Irish collections.
