PICTURES AND PRINTS Tuesday 16th September 2025 19:56:40 Biography ERSKINE NICOL RSA ARA (1825 - 1904) Erskine Nicol A.R.A. was a Scottish painter known for his genre scenes and depictions of Irish rural life. After working in Dublin during the 1840s, he became noted for his sympathetic portrayals of Irish subjects, often infused with social commentary and humour. Elected Associate of the Royal Academy in 1866, Nicol exhibited widely and remains celebrated for his technical finesse and humane storytelling.
